I had the pleasure of planning and coordinating Brandon & Meredith Renshaw’s wedding in Kawaihee, Hawaii. Brandon & Meredith came to me a year out from their wedding asking me to coordinate their wedding plus organized about 35 family members traveling from Texas to the Island and add a few family excursions. I was up for the challenge and excited to plan a wedding over 3,500 miles away.
I researched so many activated for Meredith to pick the best option for her guest. I researched tent, flouriest, photographer, caters and DJ vendors on the island which fit into her budget. To stay within her budget, I used my relationship here in Texas on her centerpieces and special table linens. I did her price research on shipping some items over the venue or checking bags on the plane. It was cheaper to check bags in then ship them over.
Communication with the vendors was very important and with the time difference we kept to emails then once I arrived on the island, 5 days before the wedding, I visited each vendor to introduce myself and make sure we had everything ready to go. Meredith’s color palette was Navy Blue and Dusty Rose. Her centerpieces were 3 glass cylinders with floating candles in them with a Hawaii inspired flower wreath with votive candles.
Brandon & Meredith said their I do’s under some big shady trees overlooking the lush green hills of Waimea. After the I do’s the guest made their way to the reception tent for open bar and cocktail hour. Since the wedding was a ranch with no electricity, a generator was rented to power the DJ and Festoon lighting under the tent. At one point during the night, the generator ran out of gas but it became one of the most romantic time for bride and groom. The tent and dancefloor were lit up by only the candles on the tables and they felt as if they were dancing in romantic candle light only.
